#FreeBlackMamas

We are part of the national movement to end cash bail in the United States. We believe cash bail is just another way to criminalize poverty. It is no secret that many women who face unwarranted jail time are at the intersections of sex work and trying to make a living to provide for themselves and their families.

We fight to decriminalize poverty and to end unwarranted jail time as an avenue to decriminalize & destigmatize sex work. This year we are teaming up with community organizations across Michigan to raise $60,000 to bail out black mothers & women from our county jail systems. As a result of COVID-19, our bailout efforts have increased. We are bailing women out of jail NOW. Our goal is to get women out of unsafe incarcerated conditions and reunited with their families immediately.

We partner with the national movement to end cash bail known as “Black Mama’s Bail Out.”

This year we are working in coalition with organizations across Detroit to raise $60,000 for the cash bail for black women & mothers held in Wayne, Oakland & Maccomb County. Many incarcerated women have experienced an array of consensual & non-consensual sex work.

While bailouts are not the systemic solution to decriminalizing sex work, we believe ending cash bail is an important step to decriminalizing poverty and sex work.
